A. At this point in time, I consider Capitalism a sickness, money an invented concept, and I don’t consider my art a commodity to be sold. It’s an outpouring of me. If you want that in your life, I want you to have it. I get the vinyl made for me to have a special-feeling physical object representing all that went into making it. The records already exist and I prefer they be in happy homes that will listen to them. If you feel they warrant money, then give me money or give it to a homeless person (or buy another friend’s art so they feel supported). That’s your decision. Shipping is stupid expensive right now tho hence why I’m asking for money for shipping.

A. Outside of the obvious things like Spotify investing large amounts of money into faceless murder robots and donating to a tyrannical pedophile’s regime, I’ve settled on the realization that music streaming platforms are really harmful for our relationship to music as listeners. We’ve had the whole history of music at our fingers for over a decade, and it’s ruined our attention and ability to choose thus making it harder to form deep relationships with individual albums, creating a vague ‘only new music is legitimate and worth attention’ eco system, and pitting all artists in a war against each other for the faintly dangled carrot of fame while destroying their self worth, artistic authenticity, and reducing their art to momentary digital trash while all their friends keep paying an evil mega corp because it’s convenient. At least that’s how it is for me. I got off consumer streaming and now curate a personal music collection while investing money directly into the artists that I enjoy. I am so much happier and freer feeling. 

If any of that piques an interest or rings true. Consider doing the same. The reality of the situation is your artist friends put pieces of themselves into the things they make, but for some reason we all happily accept as a society that we’d prefer to pay some piece of shit plaguing their platform with AI fodder instead of investing in that friend/artist/or their art. Same for Instagram. Buy your friends’ paintings. Tell them you love them and then look at the painting for way too long so you can better understand the person that made it and why they did. Rant status: Full success!

Yes :D But if you’re making art just for fame or means, how much ‘art’ are you robbing it of?

A lot of the time! My brain is my brain and likes to be particular. But I process experience through song, hence the grave nature of many things I say. I tend to be a constant flare of competing love and hate that threatens to fan out if I don’t keep a hold on the reins.

I love so many people, creatures, and things, and I enjoy those things immensely. Thusly, I want to protect those things, so I harness and amplify my hate towards anything that threatens them.

Why would I do the same thing over again? That’s no fun. Experiment! Explore! Create! Find your voice and twist and abuse it to whatever ends you see fit. You don’t know what you can do until you put cracks in the walls and move outside them
